38. Why Our Kids Drive Us Crazy and how to Fix It

4 Reasons Our Kids Drive Us Crazy and Why Parenting Feels So Hard

Does it sometimes seem like your kid is intentionally trying to make your life harder? I used to think my daughter was just being difficult for the sake of it and get really angry. What I eventually had to learn was that a lot of what was driving me crazy had nothing to do with her and everything to do with my state, choices, and past trauma.

In this episode, I break down four reasons our kids bug us the most and how we can take responsibility for our reaction. I talk about how kids mirror our emotional state, why they push our buttons, how the environments we create shape their behavior, and how our own triggers and unresolved childhood issues show up in our parenting.

In this episode, we explore:

  • Why do kids act out more when parents are exhausted or stressed?

  •  How do children mirror their parents’ emotional state?

  • Why do kids push our buttons and what we can do about it?

  •  What parenting triggers actually come from our own childhood?

  •  How can emotional regulation change your child’s behavior?

  •  Why does parenting feel so hard even when you are doing everything right?
